Tan Yo-Hann, Non-Independent Non-Executive Director

Yo-Hann joined Principal Global Investors (Singapore) Limited in 2024 and leads the development of the firm’s private asset capabilities in the APAC & ME region. 

Yo-Hann has served in various senior management positions at Savills Investment Management and within the BNP Paribas Real Estate Group, including Head and CEO of BNP Paribas Real Estate Asia-Pacific which he led the creation of. Yo-Hann also led the establishment of Aareal Bank Asia Limited in 2007 as a licensed merchant bank in Singapore, where he served both as Deputy CEO and Group Legal Counsel.

Yo-Hann has extensive transactional and fund management experience in the main European markets such as Paris, Dublin, Munich and Frankfurt, and has also been particularly active in London and the regional sub-markets. His experience encompasses all risk spectrums from core, core plus to value add and development. He has advised clients across various asset classes such as offices, industrial/logistics, mixed use, retail, hospitality and residential developments. Yo-Hann has also led on numerous debt financings and has provided financing solutions to developers, private equity investors, institutional, corporate and high net worth borrowers in the APAC region.

Overall real estate track record: $22bn acquisition, $4.2bn debt financing.

Earlier in his career, Yo-Hann practised law for 11 years in various jurisdictions such as Singapore, London and Hong Kong. He specialised in the areas of banking, finance, restructuring, real estate, and shipping law (where he was rated as a highly recommended lawyer with “first class shipping knowledge” by International Financial Law Review Legal 500 (2006/2007 Edition).

Yo-Hann also served as a senior advisor to Global Counsel, a strategic public policy advisory boutique. He currently serves as a regulator and is a member of the RICS Board on Standards and Regulation. He supports INARA, a charity focusing on providing critical medical care to children in conflict-zones injured by war and serves as a Board Member.
 

Qualifications:
He is a law graduate of University of Kent at Canterbury and holds an LL.M Law with Merit from the University College London. Yo-Hann is a Barrister-at-Law, England & Wales and an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore.
